The Emily Windsnap series by Liz Kessler - a KS2 Resource Pack

Hachette Children’s Group have created a fantastic Resource Pack based around The Emily Windsnap series.

It’s time to dive deep into a world beneath the waves: a magical world of mermaids, fun, friendship and adventure. This Resource Pack is designed to get children aged 9–11 thinking about the features of a fantastical adventure story, with a mythical creature at its heart. It is based on the bestselling Emily Windsnap series by Liz Kessler.

Bubbling with new heights of adventure and featuring a mermaid-heroine you won’t forget, this Resource Pack will invite everyone in your class to explore an enchanting new world, and to test the limits of adventure writing.

The six lessons included have been designed as sequential activities and can be taught as whole units or as individual activities to be dipped in and out of. They can be used as an introduction to KS2 Myths and Legends schemes of work. Each activity will guide pupils through the different elements of the Emily Windsnap stories, giving them the skills and confidence they need to draft, structure and write a creative piece of their own.
