Win a copy of Sunshine on a Plate

As part of our National Reading Group Day celebrations we caught up with Masterchef winner Shelina Permalloo to talk about her book Sunshine on a Plate. Shelina told us about writing a recipe book and she shared one of her recipes with us:

“In 2011 I decided that I wanted to get in to food so I applied for Masterchef in April. I got a call in August and went from not know how I’d get involved, to beating 25,000 applicants to win in December!

When you’re on Masterchef you have to write recipes for the BBC, the BBC publish recipes from the show on their website, then in the two and a half months when I couldn’t tell anyone that I’d won the show I wrote about 50 recipes… I came up with the idea, then you have to test it then you have to write it and retest it.

I had to think about how this book could be accessible for everyone and not just people who live near ethnic foodstores I had to think about recipes where you could get ingredients from local supermarkets."

Get involved

Check out Shelina’s recipe for tandoori chicken. And email us to be in with a chance of winning a copy of the book.
