Hunt on for World Book Night bookgivers

World Book Night returns next year on 23 April – Shakespeare’s birthday and the UNESCO International Day of the Book – for another mass giveaway of one million books. The hunt is now on for the 20,000 bookgivers needed to give away the selected titles chosen by readers. Apply by 31 January 2012 to take part in the biggest book giveaway ever.

Libraries can register as a pick-up point by completing this form by Friday 30 December.

Aiming for the world’s biggest network of reading groups

We are thrilled to be working with World Book Night again this year and we have set ourselves a very ambitions target – to create the world’s biggest network of reading groups. We are asking all World Book Night bookgivers and book recipients to join Reading Groups for Everyone, set up reading groups and create the world’s biggest network of reading groups. We will be publishing lots of ideas and information for how you can get involved in World Book Night and your local reading group in the lead up to the big day itself so keep checking back.

Bringing reading to more people

This year there is a new focus for World Book Night to bring reading to those who are not always part of their local communities. At the launch event at Downing Street, founder Jamie Byng announced: “For our event in 2012 it is our priority to take books to some of the hardest to reach potential readers particularly within UK prisons, libraries and hospitals, care homes and homes for the elderly. When people cannot come to us and participate in our events, we will take our books to them.”

We will bring you updates on this too on Reading Groups for Everyone.
