Fiction Uncovered 2012 titles announced

Fiction Uncovered have just announced their eight titles for 2012. They are:

* The Two Cows and a Vanful of Smoke by Peter Benson, Alma Books
* The Light of Amsterdam by David Park, Bloomsbury
* This is Life by Dan Rhodes, Canongate Books
* Hit and Run by Doug Johnstone, Faber
* My Former Heart by Cressida Connolly, Fourth Estate, HarperCollins
* When Nights Were Cold by Susanna Jones, Mantle, Pan Macmillan
* Lucky Bunny by Jill Dawson, Sceptre
* Crushed Mexican Spiders by Tibor Fischer, Unbound

Each year a prestigious judging panel selects eight titles representing the best of British fiction – looking beyond the mainstream and the debuts to put talented contemporary writers in the spotlight. This year’s judges are: John Sutherland, Katy Guest, Jasper Sutcliffe and Matt Thorne.

Calling librarians and library staff

Fiction Uncovered recognises that libraries share the aim of bringing quality writing to a wider audience. We’d love library staff to join Tibor Fischer, Alex Clark, James Meek, Paul Murray, Stuart Evers and others on the Fiction Uncovered website. Help us champion great British fiction by writing about a book or an author that deserves to be celebrated! Contact Fiction Uncovered on [email protected].

About Fiction Uncovered

Founded in 2011, Fiction Uncovered is an Arts Council-funded initiative which celebrates our best British fiction writers. The promotion creates the opportunity for eight British fiction writers (novels, short stories, graphic novels) to be part of a major promotion supported by retailers, and a major publicity and marketing campaign.

Reading groups and book clubs will be reading and reviewing this year’s Fiction Uncovered titles – so come back soon to see what they think and add your views if you’ve read any of the titles.
