Book Club Fest at the Free Word Centre

Love reading?
Enjoy talking about books with other people?
Interested in other countries?

Come and join us at the Free Word Centre on Wednesday 21 September, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, for an evening of reading foreign stories in translation from countries including China, Mexico and Sweden.

How it works

Register online and you will be emailed all the texts as PDFs. Read the stories and then when you arrive at Free Word on the night you’ll receive a printout of them all, plus a free glass of wine. There’s one room, lots of book clubs, lots of short stories, and lots of book-lovers. Join a group, take part in the discussion, move around when the bell rings, and then all come together at the end and share your thoughts.

If you’d like help setting up your own book club reading books in translation, put your name down and talk to the organisers – you will be provided with ideas for texts, book club discussion starters and much more. Expect lively debate and the unexpected!

Free, but registration is essential.
