An update from Myth and Magic

It’s here! At last! Yes, Peter Jackson’s latest J.R.R. Tolkien "adaptation ":http://www.harpercollins.co.uk/Titles/78136/the-hobbit-film-tie-in-edition-j-r-r-tolkien-9780007487288 has now been released into the UK’s cinemas. Many of our Hobbit community bloggers have now seen the film and read the book, and their reviews and group updates will be posted here soon. In the meantime, here’s an update from Myth and Magic, the after-school Tolkien study group of the Ironville School in Derbyshire.

* The group hopes to take part in the 2013 Tolkien Society Seminar this summer, and may use this occasion to create a compilation of material produced by group members since its formation in 2009.

* Group members will soon begin preparing Myth and Magic‘s talk on the etymology of the fictional language Laiquendi. The talk will be given at Omentielva Lempea, the International Conference on J.R.R. Tolkien’s Invented Languages held in Helsinki each year.

* Myth and Magic will continue planning and scripting their Vyne ring play/film for a project which may take place later in the year.
