This sequel was not as enticing in the beginning but has a better impact later on, I love the themes that run through this book. Sophie was a good character as was the descriptive personality of Silas. Humanising him was done perfectly. Would definitely recommend

The Da Vinci Code is a book about a treasure hunt. The head of a secret society is murdered one night in the Louvre. He leaves behind a set of clues that lead Professor Robert Langdon, an expert in religious symbology, and his company , Sophie Neveu on a race through Europe trying to solve a mystery as old as time. A mystery that threatens christianity.

I really enjoyed trying to solve the various riddles before the characters themselves - even managing some of them! It is a very fast paced book that sometimes needed you to have a pen and paper beside you to take notes. I liked the character of Sophie, who did her fair share of puzzle solving, and the way she was used to explain background details to the reader.

I confess I saw the film before I read the book and think that was a good way to do it. Having seen the film and knowing what the characters were like I could then concentrate on the finer detail in the book.

I would read more of Dan Brown's stories as I liked Professor Langdon and the subject of symbology. I like the idea of something looking like one thing and meaning something else too.

To conclude this is an interesting book that I would recommend if you have an inquisitive mind and a lot of spare time!
