It’s London, 1876 and Hetty Feather is just a tiny baby when her mother leaves her at the Foundling Hospital. The Hospital cares for abandoned children – but Hetty must first live with a foster family until she is big enough to go to school. Life in the countryside is hard but with her ‘brothers’ Jem and Gideon, she plays imaginary games.

It was an amazing book .I liked how it was set in the Victorian times .It was so interesting . I would highly recommend this very interesting book .Jacqueline Wilson wrote it so realistically that I could imagine I was in the moment .
I really liked how Hetty really wanted to go away from Sheila, Matron. The book made me want to run free.
great tension, heart-breaking
This book was not as exciting as the other ones. Some parts I didn’t like but it was good.
I really liked Hetty Feather because she always managed to defend herself from the matron and the bullies and I really like her adventurous spirit

Hetty Feather is a great tale, but also very sad.An especially sad part is when she leaves her foster brother Jem to go back to the foundling hospital.

It was very good. I liked Nurse Winterson and Jem. I would recommend this book to others.
It was a fantastic book
I haven't read very much of Jacqueline Wilson's work at all. However, this book made me cry. It has been quite well researched and gives just enough period detail.
I had real empathy for the characters, especially Hetty and the cartoonish cover illustrations make the characters personalities come to life in a more three-dimensional way somehow.
I was particularly fond of the black and white illustrations at the head of each chapter. They give the reader a glimpse into what each chapter is about, but it doesn't become entirely clear until after you've finished the chapter. They are 'teasers' really, so I found myself flicking back to look at the pictures again to make sense of the mystery meaning in each.
There are two more books in this trilogy, I can't wait to read them.
This book was really funny and interesting. It taught me some history in the late 1800's. Hetty Feather was my favourite character because she is very mischievous and always cared for her younger brother, Gideon. I would recommend this book to people who love history and action tales.
This book is full of adventure and plot twists if you like adventure you will like this book
This book is about the life of Hetty Feather. When Hetty was born her mother was very poor and Hetty was always sick so she had no choice but to drop Hetty at an orphanage. After Hetty arrived she got adopted by a huge family. But when she was at the age of five she had to go back to the orphanage. When she returned to the orphanage life was miserable for her and one day she thought of escaping the orphanage and she did it, she escaped for two days but a writer called Mrs Sarah took her back to the orphanage and when she entered the cafeteria one of the kitchen staff fainted and was rushed to her room. Hetty came to, as she got closer the kitchen staff hugged her and said that she was Hetty's real mother.
My favourite character is Hetty because she never gave up.
I would recommend this book to children age 8+
Good
