'As Gregor Samsa awoke one morning after disturbing dreams, he found himself transformed in his bed into an enormous insect.' What an opening line!

We spend the rest of the book with poor Gregor, watching him attempt to live his life as an insect. One of the most famous works in 20th century literature, this is a classic allegorical tale about alienation, difference and society. Kafka masterfully explores the intolerance and bigotry in the human psyche in this absolutely essential read.
