Enjoyed rereading this alongside the TV adaptation which, in my view, was just a skimpy, sugared version of this amazing, if rather long, novel. The novel, looks at politics, religion, prejudice, families, relationships, sex, violence, corruption, love, friendship, deceit and so much more. It is gritty, interesting, funny, sad, and all of life is in there.A tremendous read.
