A shortcut through the forest to Grandma’s house produces some eerie moments – and some oddly familiar characters – in a strikingly illustrated tale about facing fears.

In really like it because it has all of the fairytale stories like goldilocks, jack and the beanstalk and red riding hood. My favourite characters are goldilocks and jack and the beanstalk and the little boy because they all played a big part in the story and all of their lines I thought were very creative to read. I love the book title.

An excellent fiction book written by Anthony Browne for KS1. The connections between traditional fairy tales created great twists within the story which the children engaged with. This book was an fantastic core text which allowed a range of writing opportunities for the children.

I thought there was going to be a wolf in it as it reminded a bit of little red riding hood. It had lots of different characters that reminded me of other fairy tales jack and the beanstalk, Goldilocks and the three bears and Hansel and gretel.

There were lots of spooky things in the background but I loved the story. I liked that there were other stories in the book like Jack and the Beanstalk and Goldilocks. I would not recommend it though because it is spooky and might give people nightmares.

This is a story about a boy who one night is woken by a terrible sound. The sky has lightning and there is a storm. The next morning the boy wake up to find his dad is gone and his mums is unsure when he will be returning. Like the story little red riding hood, his mum asks him to take a cake to his sick grandma and told him "don't go into the forest, go the long way round". But the little boy does take the forest route where he meets lots of well known fairytale characters, Hanzel, Gretel and Cinderella's slipper, the wood cutters axe. I recommend it
