Spanning four generations, Isabel Allende’s family saga is populated by an often eccentric cast of characters. Together, men and women, spirits, the forces of nature and of history, converge in a brlliantly realised novel.
What a wonderful writer Isabl Allende is. This edition was beautifully translated from Spanish by Magda Bogin. I became totally engrossed in the lives of the characters and in the process learned lots about the political and social history of Chile. Not all of it very pleasant.
