A fantastic book with plenty of unfolding secrets.

It is set during WW2 and present day 2020. The chapters are clearly labelled with which character is telling the story and it is told as 1st person throughout.

It took me a while to get into this book as it jumps around in time but once I got to know the characters it became easier to follow and more enjoyable. As I usually find with books that jump around in different times, it wasn't clear to me how they were all going to connect. The author did a brilliant job of bringing the book together at the end. I didn't feel anything was left unexplained, which is always a bonus.

A great read with loads of emotion throughout.

At first i was a little dubious about the split chapters but i neednt have worried it worked well with this book the chapters were all set out and sequenced perfectly. The story was enjoyable, i especially liked when you suddenly realised the connection between the characters.

An intriguing story tracing the history of families facing Civil War in Spain, the Irish Uprising, World War 2 bombing in London and the internment of Italians during this time.
A mysterious phone call from the past sets this modern day story in motion and its a twisty sage of love and survival through the years and a final emotional twist for the woman who received that call.
