A nailbiting thriller set in 1950s Morocco, soon to be a major film starring Scarlett Johansson and produced by George Clooney.

I was disappointed with this novel. The plot is rather unoriginal but that doesn't necessarily matter in a thriller. The writing wasn't that strong which also needn't matter in a thriller. The characters were a little bit stereotypical and underdeveloped too. I thought maybe there would be something to learn about Tangier and her history as the novel is set here in 1956, just as independence is about to happen. Sadly the sense of place was scanty and the historical events barely mentioned. There are plot inconsistencies and many improbabilities too. But it was a very easy read and I did keep going right to the end.
