'The books is always better than the film' does not stand up for this book. With so much subject matter for Bridget to deal with in the nine months and how much this changes the body, our Preschool parents book club, were rather disappointed by this effort having enjoyed the first few diaries. This book felt rushed yet being familiar with the characters from previous books it was still a quick, fun read with a very obvious but comforting ending.

Reviews of the Bridget Jones Helen Fielding book

If you enjoyed Bridget's previous escapades then you won't be disappointed. This light hearted story moves along at a good pace with the characters behaving or misbehaving as you would expect. Although it is predictable, it is still an enjoyable holiday read or for that long train journey.

Enjoyed this book, and giggled unashamedly throughout. It was a whirlwind-like romantic romp, predictable in outcome but it provided what the reader wanted of it.
Initially a little over faced with the amount of swearing in the dialogue but as the plot developed the conversational expletives didn't seem so, "in your face!" A quick fun read ideal for an indulgent afternoon in front of the fire.

A good read! Best served alone, snuggled on a sofa in front of a log fire, with prosecco and chocolates on hand. Well worth staying in for!

I really read it on the train to and from Liverpool - but would have far rather read it I front of a fire etc etc. I did enjoy it though!

Just finished reading Bridget Jones's Baby. Here is review! A thoroughly enjoyable light hearted read. The characters come to life through the diary and the story moves along quickly. I had quite a few laughs out loud moments. A book to enjoy, when you need a little light relief.

This is the first Helen Fielding I've read and I can see why they are so successful. They're well enough rooted in real life for us all to find aspects of ourselves. Heightened reality with only the funny episodes kept in, or the problems such as they are sure to be resolved. Escapism pure and simple and why not?

Sue

So really, you won't hear a bad word from me about this novel. There were plenty of laughs - out - loud moments, plenty of embarrassing moments and plenty of sad and truly happy moments. I loved the film and this did not disappoint either. Long may Bridget Jones continue her life's journey and share it with us all. We are all Bridget Jones, chaotic, puzzled, well-meaning and looking for our own happy endings,

"A light hearted novel, which was predictable yet still humorous enough to carry the reader through to the end of the story. Some readers might relate to the slightly bonkers story of pregnancy, letting go and finding yourself. If you want a quick, light hearted read that doesn't take itself too seriously, then you won't be disappointed with this book."
