A well written book that blends fact with fiction. Elizabeth Chadwick writes confidently and the story takes the reader back to the times when power in France and England was constantly changing and gradually assuming the political divides we know today. The value of sons to an aspiring monarch was vital, but daughters were important too in the ebbs and flows of power. Full of detail, life and colour, this book is good read for the lover of history and illuminates a turbulent period in medieval Europe.
