"Taduno's Song is a dreamlike bitter sweet allegorical fantasy. The protagonist is a peace loving Black musician trapped into the dilemma of raising his voice against tyranny or saving the woman he loves. Although expressed in simple readable language the characters are well drawn and the book expresses universal complex issues relating to oppression.
