The international phenomenon, now in paperback. Quirky and bittersweet, heartbreaking yet outrageously funny, A Man Called Ove is a life-affirming fable for our times.

Read with Gloucester Book Club.
Ove is a grumpy old man but throughout the novel you learn why he got the way he did and with the help of loving neighbours, your heart warms towards him.
This book illustrates that you should never judge a book by it's cover and that we should always be kind.

I loved this book A lovable grump with a huge personality. .. I found I identified a lot with Over! I must be starting the "grump age!"

A great book for a group to discuss and a great read for Holiday or winter days

To date (May '16) this has been by far the most popular novel of the year at our book club. We all loved it.

Our book club members (8 of us) have a wide range of reading preferences but we all loved the humour, the characters and the way the plot draws you in and absolutely wraps you in Ove's world.

The quote on the cover really does sum it up: it's funny and warm hearted and very moving. We all cared hugely about what happened to the characters - they are beautifully written (as is the novel as a whole) and entirely believable.

Our dilemma now is whether we read Fredrik Backman's new novel. We all loved Ove so much, we're worried the next one can't possibly be as lovely!

A hugely recommended read though - a total delight.

This is a charming book, although Ove appears to be a 'grumpy' man he is very likeable. This is an amusing book but also has moments of sadness. All the people in the story are well described. I have recommneded this book book to others.
