The Number One New York Times Bestseller!

Included in BookTrust’s 100 Best Books for Children Debut author Drew Daywalt and international bestseller Oliver Jeffers team up to create a colourful solution to a crayon-based crisis in this playful, imaginative story that will have children laughing and playing with their crayons in a whole new way. Poor Duncan just wants to colour in. But when he opens his box of crayons, he only finds letters, all saying the same thing: We quit! Beige is tired of playing second fiddle to Brown, Blue needs a break from colouring in all that water, while Pink just wants to be used. Green has no complaints, but Orange and Yellow are no longer speaking to each other. The battle lines have been drawn. What is Duncan to do?

This was a very good book - I like fiction books. I would recommend this. I love the letters from all the crayons. My favourite crayons are yellow and orange (I think I'm siding with orange on the 'who should be the colour of the sun' argument').

This was a quick and fun read. Other than the intro and outro, the entire book was letters from the crayons to Duncan. The illustrations were wonderful, full of colour and drawn in actual crayon. The story was that each crayon was upset for a specific reason, and so Duncan draws a picture taking into account what each crayon said; he was then awarded a well done sticker and a gold star for this picture.
I would recommend this book because it was fun. The book can also be interpreted as treating people with respect and understanding / adapting to people's different needs and values.

After reading the day the crayons came home I thought I would read this book and see if it is as good as that. Well it is brilliant it explains why the crayons aren’t happy and why they would like to be used more. This book made me think about what my crayons would say to me if they could write. The morrow of this story is to use all your colours even if you think the picture would look silly.
I would recommend this book to everyone that cares and enjoys colouring as this will make them think more about all the crayons that they use and even the ones that they don’t. Excellent book
