The National Galaxy Book Awards 2011 Shortlist Announced

If your reading group wants to discover some of this year’s most talked about writing, why not choose books from the recently announced National Galaxy Book Awards "shortlist ":http://www.readingagency.org.uk/adults/Galaxy%20National%20Book%20Awards%202011%20shortlist.pdf. Categories range from ‘Thriller and Crime’ to ‘Food and Drink’ to ‘Best International Author’, so there should be something for everyone.

The shortlist was announced on Monday, 17 October. The annual awards celebrate the best of British fiction and non-fiction across eleven categories, including those for debut and children’s authors. The awards have evolved from the Galaxy British Book Awards and aim to recognise the country’s most popular, accessible writers.

Following the awards ceremony on Friday 4 October, there will be a six-part TV series, BOOKED – Winners of the Galaxy National Book Awards on More4. BOOKED will run from Sunday 13 November until 18 December and feature the awards ceremony, hosted by Dara O Briain, in bite size chunks focussing on different category winners each week. The show will also include in-depth interviews with some of the season’s biggest celebrity authors, including Katie Price and Rob Brydon.

Promotional material to display in libraries and other organisations is available from our "shop ":http://shop.readingagency.org.uk/productslist.aspx until Friday 21 October.
