Six Book Challenge launch with author Lucy Cavendish

Six Book Challenge run by The Reading Agency helps get adults back into the reading habit and builds their reading confidence. Run in workplaces, libraries, colleges and other places, the Challenge is to read six books and keep a reading diary. There are rewards along the way and the chance to enter a prize draw at the end.

Hertfordshire Libraries launched their Six Book Challenge at Watford Central Library on World Book Day 2011, with author Lucy Cavendish talking about her new Quick Read Jack and Jill. This was followed by the Watford Quick Reads Book Group who meet regularly for people who need encouragement to read, want to develop their reading skills, or who want to regain the reading habit.

Lucy talked about and read from Jack and Jill and introduced all the other Quick Read titles that were published on World Book Day. She spoke about her her career in journalism, interviewing celebrities, how she goes about writing a book and about juggling writing with family life and bringing up four children.

“Interesting to hear how an author approaches her writing when starting a new book.”
