Festival of Crime Writing

If you live in the Windsor and Maidenhead, then check out the Festival of Crime Writing being run by Windsor and Maidenhead Libraries taking place in February and March.

There’s a great line-up of some of the best crime writers in the UK today and something for all tastes – from cosy crime to urban serial killkers. So if your reading group or book club loves a bit of crime or would like to try it for the first time – don’t miss out on getting tickets for these events taking place in your local library.

Peter James: Best Selling author and winner of Best Crime Novel 2011
His novels have been translated into 34 languages, selling over 11 million copies; they include the Sunday Times no.1 Roy Grace series. Peter is chair ofthe Crime Writers Associations and won the People’s Choice Dagger for Best Crime Novel of the year 2011.

Medieval Murderers – featuring Karen Maitland and Philip Gooden
Medieval mayhem, murder and magic
With a wealth of anecdotes and jokes about writers, writing and Murderous England, the Medieval Murderers are one of the top speaking groups of writers in the country.

Cosy Crime & Afternoon Tea
In 1936, Dorothy L Sayers abandoned the last Lord Peter Wimsey detective story. Sixty years later the manuscript was rediscovered and award-winning novelist Jill Paton Walsh was commissioned to complete it. The pairing of Dorothy L Sayers with Walsh has proved to be an international success. Join Jill for afternoon tea and find out about her writing and books.

Sophie Hannah
Best selling crime fiction writer and poet, her psychological thrillers Little Face, Hurting Distance, The Point of Rescue, The Other Half Lives and A Room Swept White received critical acclaim.

John Harvey
Best known for his sequence of ten Nottingham based Charlie Resnick novels, including Lonely Hearts, and chosen by The Times as one of the “100 Best Crime Novels of the Century”. His latest book Good Bait was published in January 2012.

The Secrets of Crime Writing with Rebecca Tope, Priscilla Masters and Caro Peacock
Some of Britian’s leading professional crime writers have joined together to spill the beans about their work and to share unique insights into the mysterious and intriguing world of fictional crime.

Lindsey Davis
Meet the author of the best selling novels featuring ancient Roman detective Marcus Didius Falco. Lindsey is the recipient of the Crime Writers Associations Cartier Diamond Dagger Award, the highest accolade for crime writers. Event sponsored by the Ascot Durning Trust.
