Liesel, a nine-year-old girl, is living with a foster family on Himmel Street. Her parents have been taken away to a concentration camp. Liesel steals books. Narrated by death, this book is the story of: a girl, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist fighter, and quite a lot of thievery.

This book is wow!
Beautifully and thoughtfully written. It shows the best and worst of humanity without being overly traumatising. I would let my middle-grade readers read this. Very impressive.
I really enjoyed this book. It is all about a 12 year old girl whose bother and mother die. She is taken into foster care. Her Papa is lovely, he plays the accordion. Her mama is nice, she does ironing for the rich. Liesel is the girls name. She is taught to read by he papa. She then steals books. She is known to her best friend (named Rudy) as the book thief. Rad the book and find out more of this fabulous book.
Loved it
A touching story and this makes Leinel in a depressing state. The story is narrated in death's point of view.
