I love survival adventure books and would recommend it to anyone else who does.
Swallows and amazons is a very good book!
An amazing read, it really pulls you in. Creative and perfect for expanding imaginations. I highly recommend and the other books in Arthur Ransoms eye catching series!
I absolutely loved this book, maybe because all my childhood holidays were in the Lake District. Yes, it’s of its time; yes the children come from privileged backgrounds, but it’s pure escapism and adventure in the wild outdoors and I was carried away by the children’s imagination. There’s a lot of sailing jargon that went completely over my head, but was part of the charm. Imagine being given parental permission to sail to an uninhabited island, pitch camp and cook over an open fire with no adult supervision. Just like the Swallows and Amazons’ Summer, I didn’t really want it to end.
I really enjoyed it it was a book about some children who go to stay on an island
I really liked the bit where the Swallows and Amazons decided to declare war on Captain Flint (who is the Amazons' uncle). My favourite characters are the Amazons because I like the things Captain Nancy (Ruth) says.
This is a fun story.my favourite character is captain Nancy Blackett, because she is fun and adventurous
I thought the book was really good. I liked that it was adventurous and a very interesting story. My favourite character is Nancy because of her sayings! I would recommend this book to others.
I really liked this book. My dad recommended it and though I wasn’t sure what to expect, I loved the adventure it took me on especially good for the school holidays! Titty was really brave. I would definitely recommend it!
I loved all of the characters in this book so much, even the Amazons. The war they have is a war to decide who will be the leader of their alliance.
Enjoyed the adventures
It was interesting to read but the words were very intense and difficult but I really enjoyed it
I loved it so much
I liked the part when the Swallows and the Amazons became friends - they were enemies at first. They could be considered as frenemies.
Mainly, I liked the adventures that the Swallows and the Amazons go on.
I would recommend it
I like this book because it is really adventurous and it is set in the olden days and I like books that are set then. I like Nancy (a Amazon pirate) and Susan (mate of the ship called swallow) I would recommend it to people who like camping and sailing and adventures.
I liked the setting, on an island of their own, and the children had great adventures. I can't wait to read Swallowdale!
Four children form the Walker family. John, Titty, Susan and Roger sail to an island in the middle of a lake in the Lake District. They call their boat Swallow. They are attacked by two pirates from the boat Amazon but they become friends against a common enemy called Captain Flint and his house boat.
Adventure book about sailing but you don't have to be a sailor to enjoy to it.
"Swallows and Amazons forever, and death to Captain Flint!"
It was an all about the epic adventure of a group of children and their allies.
It was a good fiction book. My favourite character was Titty because she was very helpful and she found the treasure. I would recommend this book.
Very good if you like adventure
I listened to this on an audio
I liked this book because it is full of adventure and it includes a parrot. My favourite part is when uncle Jim A.K.A captain Flint gives Titty the parrot.
My mum recommended this book to me.
I thought it was good, but there was a lot of words I wasn't sure of, and a lot of it was about sailing, which I was not familiar with.
It was still a good book though. I liked that they went camping on the Island as i love camping that's why it interested me, also that they went on adventures.
I would recommend it.
This book is amazing!!! I absolutely loved it! It contains adventure. The character I liked was either Titty or Susan. Do read it. I recommend it.
This is a must read for any child. The book is beautifully written and captures the essence of a children's holiday in the Lake District. I can imagine myself looking forward to the start of the adventure and messing about in boats and all the fun activities they got up to. As a cub I particularly liked the parts where they put up their tents and had meals around the camp fire.
I have been to the Lake District many times and I would recommend this book. I have since started Coot Club and I am looking forward to getting reacquainted with John, Susan, Titty and Roger not to mention Nancy and Peggy
I liked all the adventures they went on and the treasure Titty found on Cormorant Island. I liked Captain Flint the best because he has a big house boat and used to be a pirate. I don't think I would recommend it to someone else even though I liked it.
I liked learning about how to sail, how to use a compass and I have learnt not to put ducks' eggs in kettles! My favourite character was Roger. I liked the story and would recommend it to other people because it's really good!
I love this book as it’s adventurous and interesting!
it was really exiting and interesting!
