A great story and beautifully told. Set in 1860's America it tells the very personal stories of Ada at home running the farm and of Inman, an injured soldier journeying home. There are also many other stories woven into the story, about the people met, incidents that happen, the horrors and pointlessness of war and atrocities committed in the name of it. A tender and caring book that's also brutal and unforgiving.
