Bird is a woman on the run. One minute, she’s in a meeting in her office in Birmingham – the next, she’s walking out on her job, her home, her life. It’s a day she thought might come, one she’s prepared for. But nothing could prepare her for what will happen next.
As Bird tries to work out who exactly is on her trail, she must also decide who – if anyone – she can trust. Is her greatest fear that she will be hunted down, or that she will never be found?

Wow, the best book I've read in 2024. This is a low key thriller packed with tension and suspense. I quickly became invested in the protagonist, Bird and her undercover life. The plot and settings match perfectly and I found myself totally immersed in the beautifully crafted descriptions of Scotland.
A riveting read. From the moment Heather made the decision to walk out of the seemingly normal office meeting, out of her day-to-day and into a life on the run, I was involved!
I felt every tense moment of her journey alongside her. Particularly in the loch! However, I would have liked to have waded a little further into her backstories. The best friend story, although briefly entwined with her later life, never really had a conclusion. What happened to Adelina? Will Heather ever be able to go home again? I'm left waiting for more.
