He wanted to see the world – but not quite like this . . . A tall story from Carnegie Medal-winning Frank Cottrell Boyce, featuring a fantastic cover from Steven Lenton.

Cosmic is the reason I love space. It's all about a boy, who is called Liam. He is really tall and people think he's an adult. His friend Florida plays as Liam's daughter in real life. They travel to China, complete space missions and go space with Dr Drax's help. One of the bests books I've read. I would recommend it no matter what you like to read.

An engaging read that Boyce depicts cleverly from the perspective of the lead character, Liam, a young boy who is mistaken for an adult, leading him into the role of "dad" for his friend, Florida. A great storyline throughout, it opens up questions and discussions with children about why being an adult with responsibilities can be incredibly demanding.

Fiction - filled with humor to keep children and adults laughing through out the entire story!

A great story that is sure to captivate its readers!

I couldn't put it down! Cosmic was a brilliant easy read!

My favourite bit was when they're up in space because he's a boy pretending to be an adult with his friend on a rollercoaster, but the ride actually sends them into space! It was supposed to be the children and one adult going, but because he's really tall and looks like an adult (even though he's only 13!) He won the vote of who went on the space trip so it ended up being all children! He lied to his parents because he said he was going on a trip to the lake District with school and brought a fake form home for them to fill in. I like the bit where they write on the moon. They were the first kids sent into space as a test so the fair ground rides owner could send her own daughter up in the second flight. The first flight was supposed to be kept secret, but when the rides owners daughter went up, she found the writing!

It is interesting. It has many adjectives and descriptive sentences and I really like the book.

It was really good and I think that lots of other people would like it. I like the bit where Liam almost drives the Porsche with Florida in the car.

Alfie is so tall that he passes of as an adult. He takes it too far and takes his friend to a dangerous fun fair in China.

It is really engaging and taught me not to lie to our parents about where we go.
Unless something bad might happen like in this book

It was great! Liam Digby is an ordinary 12 year old, but he is very tall for his age. Some people even think that he is a grown-up! With some pretending as a grown-up, he gets himself into a lot of trouble.
I like Liam best because he wants to try out new things. I would recommend this book for all children that always wish to act like adults.

The best book

It's funny how Liam looks like a grown up even though he's something like 12 or 13 he really ends up In space.

This novel was an interesting read, there was a good balance of humour and seriousness. Liam was a teenager that was often perceived as an adult which often got him into dangerous situations. When Liam won the competition, I was intrigued to see how and if he would pull it off and how he would include Florida. Throughout the story Florida talks about her father and how ‘great’ her relationship is, and for me it came across as a bit too much which may not be picked up by children. So, the reveal of her father no longer being a part of her life made me emotional especially since the ending shows the ‘Hello dad’ can be interpreted in many ways.

The story of a young boy called Liam, whose height enables him to be preserved as an adult to others and how he ends up in humorous but slightly dangerous situations; I found to be an enjoyable read. The theme of space, I feel would be of great interest to children reading the story and the idea of children being sent to space even more so. Liam parading around as an adult was comical, especially from having the account of the story told by himself, you could see the work he needed to put in to fit in with the other dads and how sometimes some ‘child-like’ phases would slip out occasionally, this helped to capture the humour. Overall, I did like this story, but it unfortunately might not be a book I reach for over the other books I have read.

This book made me laugh out loud, especially as I listened it on Audible and loved the characterisations bringing the story alive. However, there were moments of thoughtful insights into life from young children's point of view.

Loved the book, it was so funny and cool the way they ended up in space in the end

I liked this book because it is fun, ambitious and definitely not boring. It is about a 11 year old boy called Liam who looks like an adult! On his first day of school, the head teacher mistook him for a teacher. He is the only 11 year old to ride a G-force roller coaster, he is the only 11 year old to drive a Porsche. His life changes when he enters to go to space. I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good adventure story.
