I really, really enjoyed this book. I thought it was interesting to get the POV from a crime reporter as opposed to your run-of-the-mill, washed up, substance abusing detective that would usually be the central character of an American crime drama genre.

Interesting characters, gripping plot and great setting. Everything needed for a great read!

Only lost a star because I found it ever so slightly predictable. I also think that, given the exquisite writing and the amount of detail Daugherty had put into the rest of the book, the ending (when the killer is caught, sentenced, visited in prison and the heroine’s feelings on the whole event) was somewhat vague - it was squeezed into about 4 pages. But, otherwise, a great read!

I found this to be a good read that kept me intrigued. I wasn't the biggest fan of the main character but was very interested in seeing how her investigation played out. I thought it was well written and would really consider reading the second in the series.
