Well 3.5 stars actually, but it's not possible to mark half a star so 4 it is. I learned such a lot about Turkey and her politics, religion and culture from reading this novel, and in the process enjoyed a good, well written story about 3 women and an arrogant Oxford professor. What's not to like? It occasionally felt a bit preachy-teachy and the more I learned about the oppressive Turkish regime the less I want to go there but it was a good read. Not as good as The Bastard of Istanbul by the same author but still good.
