Reviews
One of our non-fiction reads, this book received mixed reviews from our group. Written in the form of diary entries whilst working for several years as a junior hospital doctor, mainly in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Some of our members enjoyed it and found it educating and an illuminating insight into the working life of a junior doctor, with some funny moments. Others felt it borders on being disrespectful to patients, and some of the language used detracts from the overall really important message, which is that junior doctors work ridiculously long hours and are paid less than they should be. The book was born from Kay’s comedy gig at the Edinburgh Festival where he read out his diary entries and was then approached by a publisher to write a book.
