The book starts off with Leonard saying he wants to kill himself and someone else- but we don't know why.
The story unfolds with Leonard saying goodbye to his 4 true friends and giving them presents which relates to the time spent with them.
Throughout the novel are letters from the future which have been written to him as an assignment from his teacher.
All of this links to what is going to happen later on in the book and gives some indication of his mental state.
Leonard has a strained relationship with his mother and find making friends hard but finds a companion in his elderly neighbour.
To write anymore would give away too many spoilers...but worth a read!
