A thick white blanket covers the wide slopes of the band of hills known as the Razorback Downs . . .
Podkin is the son of a warrior chieftain. He knows that one day it will be up to him to lead his warren and guard it in times of danger. But for now, he’s quite happy to laze around annoying his older sister Paz, and playing with his baby brother Pook. Then Podkin’s home is brutally attacked, and the young rabbits are forced to flee. The terrifying Gorm are on the rampage, and no one and nowhere is safe. With danger all around them, Podkin must protect his family, uncover his destiny, and attempt to defeat the most horrifying enemy rabbitkind has ever known.

Loved this book! Read it in one day
I like this book a bit but some is scary
It was very exciting and interesting but could have been slightly longer. That would have elevated it to a higher level.
This is the best book I have read it twice now
This is an exciting journey story in the style of the Hobbit but with rabbits as the main characters. There are plenty of battles and good triumphing over evil. The setting and character descriptions are very well written.
I loved pook because he was just so cute ! And I’ve already recommended this to all my friends ! Loved it !!
Podkin is the son of a warrior chieftain. He knows that one day he will lead and guard his warren. But for now, he’s quite happy to laze around and play with his siblings.

I would definitely recommend this book. It is fantastic. My favourite characters the 3 children.
Really fun adventures podcast and his friends fight of the dark.
adventurous and exciting
This book is one of the best books I have ever read. Full of adventure and details.
I like it because it has lots of rabbits in it
I absolutely loved this book, the world it was set in and how the story and characters developed. I would definitely recommend this book.
I loved this book! It was amazing and I felt that the characters were easily relatable and I felt instantly connected with them. I liked Paz the best. I would DEFINITELY recommend it to someone else.
I enjoyed this book because Podkin and his siblings had lots of adventures with the different rabbit tribes.
My favourite was Podkin because he was very brave, even when his ear got chopped off by a portcullis!
I would recommend this book to my friends.
The Gorm was pretty scary.
I really loved this book because I love rabbits. Similar to warrior cats. Very enjoyable.
Recommended by a colleague. Enjoyed it and could see how children would love it.
It reminded me of a number of other stories.. Hobbit, Lord of the Rings and something I couldn’t quite put my finger on!
Overall a well written book with plenty of opportunities for vocabulary discussion.
It’s 5 star because the story links together well with an action packed story
Podkin is a lazy rabbit who will be chieftain one day. However, he would rather do anything than learn and study. This changes when ‘The Forms’ take over his burrow and kill his father. Podkin is on a journey ti step into his fathers shoes.
It was daring.
This book is about a rabbit that is quite spoilt and is yet to be a chieftain of his father's warren. Their warren is gifted with a dagger that can cut through anything but iron. Soon, the Gorm raid their warren and kill Podkin , Paz (the eldest) and Pook's (youngest) father. They flee with the sacred gift called Starclaw and when they reach Apple warren Podkin's ear gets cut off so he can escape and then met Bridgid.
Overall, this book is very adventurous and a great book. I would definitely recommend this book to someone else.
I enjoyed the way the story was narrated switching between the 'bards' voice and the actual story, the ending was good, did not see it coming.
I thought that this book was a very nice adventure book. My favourite character was Podkin as he is very inquisitive and adventurous.
I would definitely recommend this to my classmates
I don't think I've ever turned down the corner of so many pages with great quotes or interesting scenes to discuss with pupils.
I loved this book!
Found it very moving in parts and I was completely gripped throughout.
I certainly have a few young readers in mind to recommend this book to, in the Autumn term.
It is a very good book I really liked the part when we find out that the bard is Pook.
It was a marvellous read with the characters feelings and emotion burst out of the pages!
Kieran Larwood made a fantasy world almost like it was in real life.
Great book - I love the bit when Podkin fights the Gorm and Scramashank! I read it at school - it’s really good! Also - I’d recommend it to people who like action and battles (like me!)
This book was really exciting
This book is confusing, sad and absolutely amazing. I love the main character, Podkin, because he tries to be a hero but his sister is actually a lot better than him. I would recommend this book to anyone who like action and a page-Turner.
