The book provoked a great deal of discussion in our group but overall we found it a little too contrived for our taste and we would have preferred more depth.
The descriptions of the hospice and the work undertaken by staff were extremely sympathetic and gave the impression of being well-researched. There were some tear-jerking moments and good twists and turns in the story.
For a reading group, the book was ideal for opening up a subject that can be seen as a taboo area and this engendered conversations punctuated by both tears and laughter.
I loved this book - I cried almost every chapter but it was also uplifting and charming. Well worth reading!
