Astra’s family are all snoring in their sleeping pods aboard their spaceship, but Astra is WIDE AWAKE. With her robot friend, Pilbeam, she goes off exploring and soon finds out the ship is in deep trouble. It’s been knocked off course and invaded by a gang of Poglites, an alien salvage crew searching for spoonage (they just LOVE collecting spoons)!
But even the Poglites need Astra’s help when they discover something far more sinister lurking in the canteen. Sure, they’re cakes; but no one would describe them as sweet.
Another splendiferous adventure from dynamic duo, Philip Reeve and Sarah McIntyre, bursting with brilliant two-colour illustrations.

I have read this book so many times at least once a year. I just find the plot twist so interesting and you most likely wouldn't expect apart from what you gather from the front cover and title. Especially the other creatures she finds up is space.
Would recommend this book!
A book with a good start - Astra going to a planet called Nova Mundi and everything... but then alien cakes come just because Astra wanted to eat something. Quite violent, I could say but I do ;love the ending, even if its as weird as the whole book.

Other children should read this book because they describe the characters and scenes very well. It is also it is very imaginative so you don't know what is coming next.
Why did she wake up?
Has she broken the machine?
