A beautifully intimate novel from award-winning Danish novelist, Helle Helle
This should be written in the present tense.
And maybe stop sleeping with her neighbour’s boyfriend.
Perhaps things don’t always work out the way they should.

A quiet, brilliantly understated novel about the minutae of a time in Dorte's life that also manages to leave much unsaid. The words flow beautifully, Dorte's life less so as she gets buffeted around from relationship to relationship. I found it totally engrossing and suspect it's one of those books that'll stay with me for some time. The translation from Danish by Martin Aitken is flawless.
