Grace’s fun-loving Mum has found a lump. Her north London world of sleepovers, tap dancing and playing the clarinet fall apart when she is sent to live with her grumpy old granddad on his farm in Yorkshire while her mother goes into hospital to get better.
Grace misses her mother so much it hurts, and doesn’t quite understand what is happening to her. And things go from bad to worse when she starts school and becomes the bullies’ latest target.
But Grace is no longer alone when she meets Rainbow Girl Megan and her pig, Claude – when she’s with them she feels as if she can confront anything.
At Easter time when Grace misses her mum the most, she knows she must find a way to get to London. With Megan’s help, she hatches a plan to run away that involves Claude, chocolate Easter eggs and a risky ID swap. But it’s all worth it if it means that she finally gets to see her mum …

A gorgeous story of courage and friendship that will tug at your heart strings.

‘A touching, beautifully imagined debut about a young girl coping with her mother’s cancer and her grandfather’s stubbornness. It’s atmosphere reminds me of the central relationship in Goodnight Mr Tom.’ Amanda Craig

‘At times, desperately moving, and others riotously fun, this is a special book that is destined to charm readers old and young.’ We Love This Book

‘This is a lovely tale of friendship, tenacity and family secrets.’ The Bookseller

This is a fictional book all about Grace a girl from the city. Her life is one big dance having fun with her mum 24/7. Though Grace is still a kind and caring girl. One day, the party ends and her mum has to go to hospital so she's sent of to go and stay in Yorkshire with her grumpy Grandad who she has never met. After meeting Megan [aka Rainbow Girl] and her pet pot-bellied pig Claude, it doesn't feel quite so bad. But not everything perfect and no-ones being completely honest. So with her best friend [and pig] by her side they go of in search of the truth, will they succeed?
I would definitely recommend this book because you can take lots from it and it is an enjoyable read.

Every time I turned the page, a new, exciting piece of text bursts creativity into my mind. Overall, this book was enjoyable and I loved the storyline. My favourite character was Grace because she puts others before her and she risked everything just to see her mother in London. To be honest, I would definetly recommend this book as it has everything: intense parts, sad parts, funny parts and most of all, happy parts.

A very amazing book about a girl called Grace who's mum is poorly with a lump which she didn't tell Grace was cancer. Grace goes to stay with her granddad while her mum goes to hospital to have the lump cut out. She meets a girl called rainbow girl Megan. Megan has always lived with her mum Allie, dad Tommy, brother Ryan and pig Claude. Megan and Grace make themselves blood sisters and they run away on a train without any tickets. the police have to get involved with this. Megan and Grace run to the hospital and Grace meets her mum and lives with her and granddad and Megan and Allie and Ryan and Tommy and Claude.
