A page turner with a likeable and flawed hero in Detective Sergeant Aector McAvoy, a whistleblower now demoted to a lowly desk job. Mark must know Hull well, the city's bars and drinkers, its sink estates, the bleak east coast are all drawn well. There are plenty of teasers here to intrigue the reader with what McAvoy does next and we would read another.
