Julia and the Shark - Writing and Illustrating Competition Pack

Julia and the Shark is an extraordinary story about family, friendship and hope from bestselling author Kiran Millwood Hargrave and acclaimed illustrator Tom de Freston.

‘Tom de Freston’s stunning illustrations perfectly complement the poetry of Kiran Millwood Hargrave’s story’ Cressida Cowell
‘The art shines and the writing soars – a classic from cover to cover’ Eoin Colfer
‘A truly beautiful book, with text and illustrations in perfect harmony!’ Jacqueline Wilson
As these fantastic authors confirm, it is the marriage between illustration and text that makes Julia the Shark is so special. To celebrate the paperback publication, Hachette Children’s have set the challenge for your students to pair off and create something special using their combined talents. Whether that’s one student crafting an incredible story, complimented by the imaginative illustrations of another, or both students taking a turn at writing and drawing to create something magical.

To help your dynamic duos craft a fantastic story, Kiran and Tom will provide their top tips on how to work together, with an inspirational video to encourage involvement.

The competition will include teaching resources, a schools’ poster with an interactive quiz, and a pack of bookmarks for your class!

You will get to pick the lucky winners and gift your students with our downloadable Julia and the Shark certificate. Tag your winners online with the hashtag #JuliaAndTheSharkDuo by 27 May.
