The Truth and Other Lies
From the outside, Henry Hayden has a perfect life: he’s a famous novelist who has more money than he can spend, a grand house in the country, a loyal, clever wife. But Henry has a dark side. If only the readers and critics who worship his every word knew that his success depends on a carefully maintained lie. One he will stop at nothing to protect.
His luck must surely run out, and he simply can’t allow that to happen. In thrall to paranoia and self-interest, Henry makes a fatal error that could cause the whole dream to unravel and, despite his Machiavellian efforts, events swiftly spin out of control as lie is heaped upon lie, menace upon menace. And it turns out that those around him have their secrets too…
Selection panel review
Our reading panel of staff from The Reading Agency and public library staff really enjoyed The Truth and Other Lies – here are some of their comments:
“It’s a brilliant quirky plot and got my interest quickly. If you like black humour I think this would appeal.”
“This book captures you from the very beginning with Henry’s admission to the truth of his success. Even though Henry is a dark complex character you still want him to succeed at his deceptions. It has a very dark but quirky sense of humour throughout and I think this will appeal to both men and women. It made me laugh out loud.”
“A wonderful little thriller full of twists, interesting inventive characters, and a certain amount of comedy to the plot that makes you want Henry to succeed in his grand plans. Interesting, moreish, loved it – can’t wait to read more by this writer.”
