Portsmouth First Fiction Award 2013 open for entries from publishers

The Portsmouth First Fiction Award 2013 which aims to recognise and reward the best new fiction writing talent, is now open for entries from publishers.

The Portsmouth First Fiction Award has been created to build on the existing success of the Portsmouth Book Awards for children’s writing.

The winner, chosen by members of Portsmouth Library Service reading groups from a pre-selected shortlist will receive a £1,000 prize and will be promoted across the city. The award is run by Portsmouth City Council (City Development and Cultural Services).

The deadline for entries is Friday 22 February. The shortlist will be announced in May 2013 and the overall winner will be announced at an event during Portsmouth BookFest on Saturday 19 October.
