Arthur C. Clarke 2012 shortlist announced

The shortlist for the Arthur C. Clarke Award 2012 has just been announced. The Award is given for the best science fiction novel first published in the United Kingdom during the previous year. The award was established with a grant given by Sir Arthur C. Clarke and the first prize was awarded in 1987 to Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale.

The winner will be announced on Wednesday 2 May at an award ceremony held in partnership SCI-FI-LONDON Film Festival. The winner receives a cheque for £2012.00 and the Award itself, a commemorative engraved bookend.

* The Testament of Jessie Lamb by Jane Rogers (Sandstone Press)

* The Waters Rising by Sheri S. Tepper (Gollancz)
