Stop What You're Doing and Read This! - Authors Mark Haddon and Michael Rosen discuss why reading is good for you.
In a world of fast-moving technology and increasing demands on your time, why should you stop what you're doing and read a book?
Michael Rosen and Mark Haddon discuss the importance of reading to our quality of life and how great books can transform the way we see the world with Miranda McKearney and Debbie Hicks from The Reading Agency.
We're really excited to be working with Vintage on the launch of Stop What You're Doing and Read This! - a passionate, funny, revelatory and inspiring book about the transformative power of reading - and our Mood-boosting Books campaign.
Come along to the launch event at Canada Water Library on Monday 23 January at 7pm. This is a free event but booking is essential. To book your place please contact Southwark Libraries or 020 7525 1570.
Stop What You're Doing and Read This! features ten of our finest authors and advocates from the worlds of science, publishing, technology and social enterprise including Michael, Mark, Jeanette Winterson, Dr Maryanne Wolf and Blake Morrison.
Research shows that reading improves mental well-being and our Mood-Boosting Books promotion features 27 Mood-Boosting Books read, reviewed and recommended by reading groups around the country - including books ranging from novels and non-fiction to poetry and graphic novels. There are also titles which are suitable for less confident readers.
