The first title in the number one bestselling CHERUB series! James hits rock bottom before he’s offered a new start in an intriguing organisation …
A terrorist doesn’t let strangers in her flat because they might be undercover police or intelligence agents, but her children bring their mates home and they run all over the place. The terrorist doesn’t know that one of these kids has bugged every room in her house, made copies of all her computer files and stolen her address book. The kid works for CHERUB.
CHERUB agents are aged between ten and seventeen. They live in the real world, slipping under adult radar and getting information that sends criminals and terrorists to jail.
For official purposes, these children do not exist.

Amazing loved it a lot
A brilliant book to foster interest especially in KS3 or high KS2 boys - start of a series of 16 books - some bad language and violence - but this is what fosters interest - good to use as a class reader
I enjoyed the fact that children were the main characters and got to be spies!
My favourite character was James because he was fat and slow but he became the best spy using his brain.
I would recommend it to readers aged 12-14.
Yes I would recommend it and my mum actually read it after me too. It is good for anyone who likes twists and adventures.
This book is an action one and a really good one!
This book also tells you about the life of an agent which is really exciting to read!
I recommend this book for ages 10+.
Very good very nice
James's mum died and he gets recruited by CHERUB,a secret service camp for orphaned children. He then goes through basic training with Kerry Chang, which helps, as he doesn't know how to swim. He then goes on a mission with Amy at Fort Harmony and helps stop a terrorist group named Help Earth and for that he earns his navy shirt!!
I think this is a really good start to the series and really love the idea of teenagers handling out agency tasks all the while the author tries his best to make t seem realistic giving out explanations and overall I really like the bond they've established between the characters, I totally recommend this
An amazing book like Alex Rider but with more grown up content. Anyone who likes spy books will LOVE this. 5 stars for me
A book with an incredible amount of things packed into it in just 320 pages.
It's a great book not for younger readers because it has got quite a few swear words . I thought it was awesomely exciting and I love spies.
I loved this so much
This book is amazing, so interesting, it had me hooked all the way through! Muchamore is such an amazing writer with really good ideas. The reason I gave it a 4 is it was a bit rude and swore a lot, and I would not recommend it to younger readers. However, that was the only problem and overall it was a fantastic read.
A great book full of thrilling adventures and breathtaking dangers an amazing book but ages 12+
I LOVE THIS BOOK!
It is about a boy called James whose mom died of leg ulcer and soon is sent to cherub a facility where childerne become spies. and so, he does his 100 day basic training and becomes the spy....
OH MY DAYS!! This is the BEST book ever!! Best for older readers and its full of adventure thrill and comedy, all the books to do with CHERUB are the best ever!!! Well done Robert Muchamore!!
I really really liked this book as it had a lot of action as well as mystery and suspense. There was also a few unexpected plot twists as well ! It almost felt that the whole world was over when his mum died, sister (Lauren) taken away by evil step dad Ron and James (main character) was getting in trouble with the police! But then came Cherub !...
My favorite part was when James had to do a survival course in Malaysia !
The mission he had was very intriguing as well !
I love the idea of kids going on missions instead of adults, especially as kids are said to be the most 'vulnerable' and 'weakest' and there they are fighting against the worlds top criminals !
I think you should read this book ,because it`s gets you very excited. So you want to read the next chapter.
I recommend it to children of the age :11-13.
Amazing! Must read.
Haunting and mysterious, tells the story of a secret agency and how realizing your personality can change your life forever!
I really like this book because it has a sense of adventure and a bit of comedy, but as it has a lot of rude language, I would not recommend it to people below my age.
It is about an ordinary kid who gets caught up in a government organisation. It shows people that they can be capable of anything whatever their beginnings - it inspires young people to dream.
you should read this book because it is for the people who love adventure with a twist of crime. Also is book will make you read more and more.
I really enjoyed reading this book. The character I liked the best was James because he is cool. I would differently recommend this book to a friend
I think this book was amazing, really good. Sometimes it swears, so it's usually in the adults section of the library.
Type: Spy book
