Did not read this as a reading group book but wanted to leave a review. The format of the book is unusual in that the four female characters take it in turn to write a chapter. Set in the 50s this is a powerful tale of a missionary who subjects his family to great hardship in following his faith. A long read, but a gripping one, none the less. It was fascinating to find how the various family members coped and how their experiences shaped the rest of their lives. Could it ever have happened? Probably.
