This is the story of Grace, Lia and Sky, kept apart from the world for their own good and taught the terrible things that every woman must learn about love. And it is the story of the men who come to find them – three strangers washed up by the sea, their gazes hungry and insistent, trailing desire and destruction in their wake.

An unsettling novel, well written in a calm, almost hypnotic way and quite compelling in a weird kind of way. The reader is kept as uncertain as the 3 girls of what is really going on, either in the girls' own small world or in the wider world. This uncertainty helps to maintain a tension and wariness throughout the novel with the reader (well, this one anyway!) being uncertain where the danger lay and where the real threats were. The only thing I'm left sure about is that the 3 girls were victims of horrific abuse. A very uncomfortable read.
