This festive season get ready to be whisked off your feet by the Sunday Times bestseller that’s stolen a million hearts around the world

‘The sweetest love story . . . you’re going to LOVE it’ Marian Keyes, Grown Ups
’You’ll fall head over heels for this book’ Reese Witherspoon

Laurie is pretty sure love at first sight doesn’t exist. After all, life isn’t a scene from the movies, is it? But then, through a misted-up bus window one freezing day, she sees a man she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there’s a moment of pure magic… and then her bus drives away.

Laurie thinks she’ll never see the boy from the bus again. But at a party later that year, her best friend Sarah introduces her to the new love of her life. Who is, of course, the boy from the bus.

Determined to let him go, Laurie gets on with her life. But what if fate has other plans?

Following Laurie, Sarah and Jack through ten years of love, heartbreak and friendship, One Day in December is an uplifting and immensely moving love story for fans of Jojo Moyes, Sarah Morgan and Coleen Hoover.

An easy to read modern day romance, ideal for a bit of escapism. Although you can predict the ending, I enjoyed the twists and turns of the story, and the likeable and realistic central characters. A 'feel good' book, would make a good holiday read.

An enjoyable and easy read to pass a rainy afternoon -no real depth but the the 3 main characters are very likeable and act like real people even if the actual plot is somewhat less credible ! Nicely written and a good option if you want to escape the real world for a few hours.

I thoroughly enjoyed this romantic novel. I was sure that true love would prevail in the end and enjoyed reading all the twists and turns, ups and downs that it took to get them there !

One December day Laurie is upstairs on a double decker bus when it pulls into a bus stop. She sees a man sitting at the bus shelter and they make eye contact – intense, meaningful and all-consuming eye contact. And then the bus pulls away. Laurie has fallen in love with a complete stranger, something which she didn’t think was possible. She tells her best friend and flat-mate, Sarah, and they spend the next year looking for this man, but to no avail. Jump forward to the following December and Sarah has found herself a new boyfriend who she is planning to introduce to Laurie at a Christmas party they are hosting for some friends. Somewhat predictably, this turns out to be the elusive Jack from the bus shelter. So where on earth do they go from here? The book provides the answers following the three main characters over the next ten years as their lives progress. The narrative is shared primarily by Laurie and Jack who each write in the first person. This gives the reader an insight into their inner thoughts and feelings as their lives move on.

I am not entirely sure what constitutes chick-lit, but I am guessing that this book comes pretty close to encapsulating the whole essence of it. It is an easy read and a good story. There is angst, there are tears, there are good friends on hand to pick up the pieces and there is a heart-breaking and heart-warming love story running through the whole narrative. Add to that the twists and turns that life throws up along the way and you have a great book for a cold winter’s day.

Although the book is plausible, even perceptive at times, and the characters seem real, there is not a huge amount of depth to it. It is what it is, a good old-fashioned romance with a modern twist.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys an easy read and wants to forget life for a while and become immersed in someone else’s narrative. I would certainly read another Josie Silver book if I came across one.
