It sounded like a respectable and worthy enough death for an explorer – tumbling from an ice bridge to be impaled upon a mammoth tusk – but Stella really, really didn’t want that to happen, just the same.

Join Stella Starflake Pearl and her three fellow explorers as they trek across the snowy Icelands and come face-to-face with frost fairies, snow queens, outlaw hideouts, unicorns, pygmy dinosaurs and carnivorous cabbages . . .

When Stella and three other junior explorers get separated from their expedition can they cross the frozen wilderness and live to tell the tale?

A gorgeously imaginative middle grade fantasy adventure combining the best of Peter Pan, Lemony Snicket, Northern Lights and Alice in Wonderland.

‘A magical adventure of friendship, bravery and derring-do in a richly imagined world.’ The Bookseller

‘A fantastic frosty adventure.’ Sunday Express

‘Wintry, atmospheric, highly imaginative fantasy.’ Metro

‘The most huggable book of the year . . . An (iced) gem.’ SFX

I liked this book because it had a smile of mystery. The reason I didn’t like this book is because it had far to much adventure and action for my liking

I really enjoyed this book.

Stella has always wanted to follow on her adoptive fathers footsteps and become a polar bear explorer but unfortunately women, let alone 12 year olds girls, are most definitely not allow to join. The polar bear explorers clubs is for bearded and moustached men who discover and bring back rare and extraordinary things from the icelands.

Yet, Stella finds a way and she and 3 other young explorers have the adventure of a life time meeting rare creatures, plants and finding out a personal secret or too as well.

This is a great book. I really could not put it down. I enjoyed the whole idea of exploring and being part of this group of young children experiencing their first taste of adventure together. It was easy to read but so much happened in it too.

I would recommend this book to anyone how loves adventure, surprise and danger.

This book is about Stella, an orphan, who was adopted by an explorer named Felix. He belongs to the Polar Bear Explorers Club. There are no females allowed at the Explorers club, but Stella is let in for a trial period. Stella goes on the adventure of a lifetime with them, finding new friends and finding out who she really is.
I really enjoyed this book because it involved magic and adventure – a great combination of story types. The characters seemed to come to life and the fascinating, unthought of creatures could be imagined as if I had seen them myself. This book had great plot with descriptive environments, so I rate it 5 stars. I am excited to read the next book in the series - Explorers on Witch Mountain.

A thrilling story about a girl named Stella Starflake Pearl who is on her first expedition to reach the coldest part of the Icelands with a group of young explorers. But when their group of four gets split up from the adults when a bridge breaks, how will they survive?

I rated this book 5/5 because it is full to the brim with adventure! I love the fact that they explored a part of the Arctic that had never been seen before! I also liked that they got trapped in a snow queen’s castle and had to try and escape! I would recommend this book to anyone who likes snow, magic and adventure!

Had some brilliantly creative ideas and some good character development and storylines but then others that felt a little clichéd or contrived. Has potential so I'm interested to read others in the series and see how it develops.

This book is probably my best book of the year so far. The Polar Bear Explorers' Club is a fun adventure book with a mystery. One of the main characters is Stella. I love her adventures. I highly recommend this book to everyone. I wish you a pleasant reading.

A really creative story set in a world where you can have a unicorn for a pet, Pygmy dinosaurs in the orangery and carnivorous cabbages!

Stella is an orphan who was adopted by Felix when he found her alone in the Icelands. He’s an explorer and she wants nothing more than to be an explorer too. She finds herself on an adventure with some fellow young explorers but things don’t always run smoothly.

I really enjoyed the story. Definitely a good one if you like adventure and fantasy.

This book rattles along at speed and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It resembles other great well-known stories in some ways which give a good idea as to which children might love this book: The chronicles of Narnia, Cogheart, Northern Lights. The ending requires you to reach for the sequel.

25 Jul 2021

Not as exciting as hoped and confusing plot about taking ages to get onboard ship to go on an adventure.

24 Jul 2021

Interesting exiting book full of thrills

03 Jul 2021

I really loved because it was adventurous

23 Mar 2021

Read this book it is awesome

31 Dec 2020

I really enjoyed this book because it has lots of description and it was a brilliant adventure. My favourite character was Stella, daughter of a polar bear explorer called Felix, because girls aren't allowed to be one and she says no that's not fair and tells people that girls can do anything that boys are allowed to do. I would recommend this to people who like adventure. I loved it.

The Polar Bear Explorer is a ship that sails to the North Pole. But i only gave it a 3 as the story ends a little too soon.
