It was a very good book.

I recommend this book to people who like mystery and crime. I was at the edge of my seat the whole entire time whilst reading the book the characters all spoke differently and are all unique. My favourite person was Addy because when her and Jake broke up she changed so much and realised how much control she let Jake have over her.

I really enjoyed this book. I liked the way that the characters each took a chapter or two and the story was built on their different perspectives. I liked the relationships that built up between them too with small amounts of info being given at a time.
There were twists and turns that I wasn't expecting in the story and would recommend it to others.

This title is borrowed so i thought I would give it a go and see what all the chatter was about.
I listened to the audio book version - which was reasonably good. Clear different voices for each of the characters so easy to follow.
Slick gossip girl style mystery, Told from 4 alternating viewpoints, four American teen stereotype characters; 'the jock', 'the prom princess', 'the bad boy', 'the smart goody two shoes'. It doesn't really stray very far from the expected but it is pacy and has enough twists to keep teens entertained. Reminded me of Katie Zhao's 'How we fall apart' so one to recommend if students enjoy this.
Older teen book.
Sex references, misogyny, controlling relationships, LGBTQ Characters, suicide and depression

This book is the best thing I have ever read!!! My favourite book in fact! What I liked about this story is that after every chapter it would finish of the sentences with cliff hangers and it just wants to make you keep on reading and reading and reading and now I’m off to reading the second book!!!

Nice twist on the sad state of American school gun killings!

This was a thrilling and highly enjoyable book. The plot took me on a journey of secrets and lies. My favourite characters were Cooper, Bronwyn and Nate because despite what they were going through, they stuck up for what they believed was right. I would recommend this book to readers aged 14+.

“One of us is Lying” is an exciting thriller with lots of scary plot twists. I loved reading this book because it was never boring and I found the characters very interesting. I was very intrigued by the ending of the book when the truth was revealed.

One detention. Five students. Only four leave the room alive.
Simon Kellheller, runner of About That, the school gossip platform, is dead. Only four people could have done it. Bronwyn (who has never broken a rule in her life), Cooper (who is surely headed for baseball fame), Addy (homecoming princess) and Nate (who everyone knows is a dealer). It has to be one of them. But who…?

24 Jul 2023

It was really good and when I found out there was a TV show I watched it straight away. I was so sad finishing the book.

18 Jul 2023

My favourite character was Bronwyn Rojas and I loved her relationship with Nate. I also love that Addy and Cooper were finally able to embrace who they really were. The plot twist was so unexpected, and I would recommend this book.

I thought that the plot was thrilling and interesting.

This is probably my favourite book at the moment. My favourite character is definitely Nate, don't really have a reason he just is. I would definitely receive this to someone who loves young adult murder mysteries with twists.

One Of Us Is Lying opens with four students heading into detention, all thinking they don't deserve to be there. Before long, a fifth student - Simon, who runs a popular gossip app called 'About That' - is dead in the classroom, and suddenly the four students are murder suspects. Not only were Bronwyn, Nate, Addy, and Cooper the only people in the room with Simon when he died, but they also all have devastating and, in some ways dangerous, secrets Simon was close to publishing. As the story unfolds, it's possible the students have been framed, but they keep unraveling more of one another's secrets, leaving them all confused as to whom they can trust. They also learn Simon had plenty of enemies in school, due to the fact that he had wrecked many lives by posting students' darkest secrets and misdeeds. Romance, bullying, cliques, secret lives, abandonment/neglect, cheating and family issues entangle the four main characters as they try to figure out which of them did it or who would want to set them up for a murder conviction.
What an incredible read! There was something so addictive about this book; it felt at times distinctly young adult while also having moments that felt so well done it was beyond the stereotype of what a teenage thriller tends to be.
I would recommend this to teenagers age 13-14+, as it contains several triggering and mature topics frequently throughout the story.
I would rate this 5/5 stars.

A great read. Really descriptive of the characters and kept me in suspense

About That is NOT a blog that you want to be on. Simon( a sad loner at Bayview High) enjoys spilling people's secrets just for the pure joy of it, using About That to spread it to the whole school. If any of your secrets end up on there, you KNOW that your life will be ruined. However, About That takes a dark turn one day, when the creator of it dies violently from nut allergies in the middle of a detention. Traces of nut oil were found on the same cup he drank from, but who put it there? This is the question you will continue to ask yourself through out the book. It will get you gasping at the end in shock with the final twist. The characters were extremely well made and had very believable personalities and near the end of the book, I felt like I was best friends with all of the book characters. If you are into drama, mystery and romance then this book is definitely for you. The only reason I scored it 4 stars was because the second one of the series is even better! Recommended for age 12-16 as there is some content that could be upsetting for younger children.

I reread this book because I absolutely love it. I couldn’t stop reading it once a started. It’s a real page turner. A very wholesome ending in the end.

I thought the book was a good murder mystery and had a lot of unexpected twists. There were a lot of representations of different people which I think is important for young people when reading books - is that they are able to relate to some of the characters in the book. I think I like Bronwyn the best as I related to her the most in terms of finding academic validation and trying to be the best academically.
I would recommend this to people that enjoy murder mysteries.

08 Aug 2022

I really enjoyed this book especially because mystery books are my favourite

05 Aug 2022

Fun, but slightly disappointing murder mystery. Definitely for teens and above.

I picked this book up because I watched the Netflix series and enjoyed it.
The book is 100% better than the Netflix series (aren’t they always?).
I love how the narrative changes between each of the 4 characters, which allows us as readers to gain an understanding of their personalities, and how they form their relationships.
The book touches upon multiple, serious, cultural issues which are significant in our society.
A fabulous young adult crime book. I still want to watch the next Netflix instalment but will appreciate it for its alternative poetic license and exploration of the series. However, I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series more!

This is an an amazing book. 5 people go to detention and only 4 came out. There is an amazing plot twist that no one would've predicted. It is a murder mysteries for 12 and above as it's got swearing and mature context.

29 Jul 2022

5 School Kids enter the room, on 4 come out alive. They’re all suspects, but only 1 can be the killer. A gripping murder mystery for ages 12+ as there are some swears and mature themes.

27 Jul 2022

I thought this book was really interesting in the way it laid the book out as it was viewing the story from all the main characters and was extremely engaging from the very first sentence. I likes all the characters as they had different stories and aspects, for example Addy started of to just do everything that her boyfriend liked but by the end she was an independent girl with her own personalities. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes: romance, mystery and action and to the age of 12+.

23 Jul 2022

mystery wasn't quite realistic, but I loved the character development.
