Really just an awesome book, and I loved it even more than Barnacle Brat. The author does a fantastic job at cutting between several converging storylines, while keeping you attentive to each one. We follow two colorful characters through a course of gambling hi-jinks, each more absurd than the last. Brilliantly written, with each and every character as wonderfully developed as the last, this book keeps you hooked from the beginning. Absolutely the funniest book I've read in a long time!

I read Barnacle Brat and reviewed it like this...

"Outstandingly brilliant book that I simply couldn't put down, read it in one sitting (or should I say one lying as I refused to move from my bed), it is only for grown ups! ..." Go look ...

This one in some ways was even better, again it made me laugh and it made me cry, sometimes the laughter had me in tears, sometimes I snorted, very unladylike!

Outstanding characters, brilliant storyline for Stanley and then there is the "other story" which is simply genius. I cannot think who is my favourite character, Stanley is lovable - he shouldn't be but his characterisation is such that you cannot help but care about him, Maggy, I see in her my dark side, but also my funny side (we have the same name but mine is spelt different), I am sure in this book we can all relate to the characters, the single mum with 2 kids, the wonderfully helpful... Read it and you will find out!

Adrian is a brilliant writer, he has the most amazing imagination, and it fits mine so well. I love this book, I love this writer and cannot wait for the third book in the series.
