Wanted: doctor for small island. Must like boats, the seaside and having no hope of keeping a secret… Lorna lives on the tiny Scottish island of Mure, a peaceful place where everyone helps their neighbour.

But the local GP is retiring, and nobody wants his job. Mure is too small and too remote. Far away, in a crowded camp, is Saif. Saif is a refugee, but he’s also a doctor: exactly what Mure needs. Saif is welcome in Mure, but can he forget his past?

Over one summer, Saif will find a place to call home, and Lorna’s life will change forever.

My first read for this year’s ‘Reading Ahead’ month, and I found it a good and enjoyable, short read, with likeable characters, and all set ideally in the perfect location, (a remote Scottish Island). Have to add, its left me wanting to know what happens to the characters next, (I presume Jenny will be writing a follow up on Saif, and Lorna).

This was an everyday story of daily life and deeper emotions and problems. It shows how people from different walks of life and just people. It had loss and heartache with hope and sadness.
